Health insurance in Florida comes in three forms.  The first, called accidental death and dismemberment, or AD&D, does not pay for medical expenses, but rather pays the insured with a lump sum payment for the loss of life or limb.  The second type of health insurance in Florida is called disability income insurance.  I also does not pay for medical expenses, but rather pays a money to a disabled person to replace wages.

        The third kind of health insurance in Florida is called medical expense insurance.  This type of coverage reimburses the insured for medical expenses, such as hospital stays, doctor visits, surgery and outpatient therapy.  Most companies also include coverage for the spouse and wife.  If this is the case, it becomes known as a family plan.
